The 2009 Open Championship PGA Tour is scheduled to be played from July 16 to July 19 at the Turnberry Golf Course in South Ayrshire, Scotland. This will be the 138th Open Championship.
There will be 156 golfers at the 2009 British Open Championship with a purse of £4,200,000 or around $6.76 million US. The winner’s share of the purse is £750,000 or $1.2 million US.
Total yardage at the 2009 British Open is 7,204, par 70.
TNT will cover the British Open on TV from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and its live online coverage on PGA.com will begin at 4 a.m. on those days, relying on the world feed supplied by tournament organizers for the first three hours of coverage.
While TNT will simulcast its early morning coverage on PGA.com on Saturday (7 a.m. to 9 a.m.) and Sunday (6 a.m. to 8 a.m.), viewers won't be able to watch the British Open online during ESPN's production of the event on ABC, which will run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
